Hanna Atsedewoin
Soprano
About.
Ethiopian-American soprano Hanna Atsedewoin recently completed her Master’s in Music at Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Hanna has gained valuable experience on the concert stage performing as a featured soloist in Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s concert entitled “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” where she performed the song cycle Heart on the Wall by Robert Owens. As an emerging artist with the Milnes VOICE Studio, she had the opportunity to perform in the 2021 VOICE Gala hosted by Thomas Hampson, singing “Dream Variation” from Three Dream Portraits by Margaret Bonds. During her time at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, she performed roles such as Monica (The Medium), Josephine (H.M.S. Pinafore), Lola (Gallantry), Lady Beaconsfield (Jekyll and Hyde), and Confidant (The Phantom of the Opera). Hanna portrayed Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor), Amelia (Whaling Women), and performed a partial role as Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites) at Carnegie Mellon University. Most recently, Hanna performed the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus at Dallas College. When programming recitals or exploring new repertoire, Hanna is dedicated to sharing and performing works by historically underrepresented composers to celebrate their contributions and bring their rich, diverse voices to the forefront.
